A nice calvary officer's sword 1827 type. Special german edition blade with "Solingen" stamp. Wooden black leather-fitted hilt, cross-section scarf and brass wire. Brass device, locally gilding. The back of hilt has oval-shape mark (used to be a medallion). Metal scabbard. Total length: 103cm Blade length: 83cm In 1826 the sword 1827 type replaced officer's backsword 1810 type (kirasiry), in 1827 - calvary sword 1817 type (dragoon, hussar, jäger, horse artillery, horse pioneers). In 1836 was replaced by officer's backsword asian type 1834 (Nizny Novgorod dragoon regiment). In 1841 was replaced by officer's dragoon sword 1841 type (horse pioneers and all dragoon regiments except of Nizny Novgorod dragoon regiment). In 1881 was replaced by officer's dragoon backsword 1881 type (all hussar and ulan regiments officers) but left at two guard hussar regiments as a part of parade uniform. In 1896 officers of guard ulan regiments get back the backsword as a part of parade uniform. In 1909 many officers were able to wear the sword 1827/1909 type. In 1917 was discontinued.
