A nice Star Model B handgun, military edition. Good condition, has matching number. This is deactivated gun.
"Star" handguns were produced by Bonifacio Echeverria, SA (Spain). In 1920th company launched new handguns line production based on american Colt M1911. They were quite similar to originals and had 9mm "largo" bullets (9x23mm Bergmann-Bayard) or 9x19mm Parabellum or .45ACP (exported to South America and North America).
Star mod. A и A Super were made for 9mm "largo" bullet. Star mod. B, B Super and BM for 9x19mm cartridge. Star mod. P - for .45ACP. Models A, B and P were produced before the WWII and some of them even were ordered by the Third Reich. The Spanish Army used Star mod. A guns as well.
In 1946 company launched A Super and B Super handguns till middle 1960th. The Spanish Army used B Super even till 1990th.
The handguns A, B and P have different caliber. This is self-loading gun with single action hammer, automatic short recoil operation and adjustable firearm action (Colt Browning М1911 type). The A Super and B Super have same type of firearm action as Browning Hi-Power. The hammer is single action hammer. Compare to M1911 this one has turnover hammer. The safety catch locks hammer. There is no automatic safety catch. The Star handguns has external extractor (as Browning М1935 (Hi-Power).
Generally speaking the Star hand gun is decent high quality gun. The gun was very popular especially in Latin America.
