7.65mm Browning pistol magazine, 1910 type. Very good condition, original oil blue finish. John Moses Browning (1855-1926) was very talented american firearms designer. Even by the famous Colt-Browning "Colt 1911" period, Browning made his name and Fabrique National de Belgique (FN) name already. It was revolution in firearms business. Some experts think that we should definitely say "thank you Browning" because main competitor revolver was finally eliminated. In 1895 Browning started design of semi-automatic guns and in 1897 he got already some patents. One of them was basic free lock design. This design became a base for "belgium brownings". In 1898 Fabrique National de Belgique (FN) start production. The first version of 122mm was produced in 3000 pieces and then they changed their mind and made shorter model. In 1900 FN start production of 7.65mm 102mm Browning FN modele 1900 (Browning no.1) - first mass-market gun in Europe. This is not super powerful but very compact, light and rapid-fire gun became very popular. By 1912 were produced almost 1 million pieces. Browning FN 1900 was very popular in Russia as favorite gun of bourgeoises and terrorists. Even history says that P. Stolypin (russian prime minister and the leader of the third Duma 1906-1911) was shot twice by Dmitry Bogrov). Later "browning" nickname referred to all automatic guns.
