Shashka was adopted by cossack lower ranks. Even they used same type of shashka before (from 1850). This type was confirmed by the Adjutant General and Graf Evdokimov. In 1950th-1960th this type got name "tannerovka" - according to person's name who did logistics.  Later all of them came from Zlatoust. That's why you can see 1904 type shashkas but with "ЗОФ" - Zlatoust stamp. Was made by private makers as well. Was pretty popular even after 1917.
